is a Scandinavian type folk high school (founded in 1908) situated in Hartola. Hartola is on Highway 4, 180 km from Helsinki. The college is divided into four sections:
FOLK HIGH SCHOOL
Language courses: Spanish, Russian, Chinese, English
These courses begin in August and January. The Spanish, Russian and Chinese courses last six months. The first four months are held in Itä-Hämeen opisto and the last two in Malaga, Hatsina and Shanghai respectively.
The English course lasts four months, the last of which is in Manchester.
Master of Administrative Sciences
This study program starts with a year in Itä-Hämeen opisto and continues at the University of Eastern Finland for 3-4 years.
This program is a creative writing course in English. It starts in August and ends in May.
We also organise shorter courses on various topics in summer and during holiday seasons.
The two-week English courses held by native speakers have been quite popular.

6TH FORM COLLEGE
A sixth-form college leading into the Finnish Matriculation Examination. A good place to study and grow in a homely atmosphere with teenage and adult students. The tuition, food and accommodation are free of cost. You can apply to the 6th form throughout the year.
ADULT EDUCATION CENTRE
This section organises evening courses that last from September to April. Usually a class meets once a week, but some courses are held on a weekend.
